Pecan Island
Made an evening trip yesterday to Pecan Island to chase some redfish. Was greeted by very low water, but little to no wind. The water was to low to sight fish or go in the duck ponds so the canals were the only place I fished. Ended up getting my limit of nice reds. All were caught on a Smoke Salty Grub.

I wouldn't call it a consistent area to site fish. At certain times of the year, such as summer and early fall, the grass in the duck ponds grows up and filters out the water. If wind isn't to bad for a day or two, that water can be crystal clear. Quite often in the summer the reds will "school up" in the more open lakes, but I have yet to get in on this action yet this summer. As soon as the fronts in late fall/ early winter start rolling through, the water level is varying so much that the water stays muddy, and sight fishing is impossible. This is when most people fish the canals. All of my experience has been on the Verm. Corp marsh, so I have no idea what the sight fishing is like in the ponds on Rockefellar.
