Jig Hooks
Need some help here. We're in the process of making our own jig heads and wanted to solicit opinions about the hooks to be used. We are definitely going to run Mustads and our original intent was to run 60 degree hooks. Mustad has a great "high end" 60 degree hook but it is very expensive - the more reasonable hook is a great hook as well and is Duratin coated to prevent rust, but it is an O'Saughnessy bend vs completely round bend (if that even matters).
Basically here are our two choices - thoughts? Hook A: Duratin coated O'Saughnessy 60 degree bend. Hook B: 90 degree round bend Black Nickel |

I use these in my molds and I am happy with them.

I like this hook better just because the eye is turned

Did you have to modify your mold so that the eye part of the hook would fit properly?
I would use the 60 deg. hooks, but I don't think they would fit.....unless I modified the eye hold just a little. |

The mold I have allows a 90 degree hook and that 60 degree hook. I like the 60's better because of the action in the water. I also like the mold because the hooks are heavy gauge 3/0 , 4/0 hooks, the red's don't mess those up as fast. |

I use the black nickel in a 2/0 Dont really worry about em rusting due to replace em after every trip and 100 jigheads cost 10.00 for me to make so its worth it in long run...cheaper. Besides after fishing with any hook most day its dull by mid day due to salt water and bites.
