Dularge Fishing
Dularge Fishing
Hit or miss right now in regards to trout fishing. The warmer weather seems to have the trout more scattered and most people are putting in long days to catch a few fish. One here, one there with no concentrations. Plenty of white trout under the birds right now down on the coastal reefs and in Lake Mechant. Its easy to fill the box with 10-12in. white trout with plastic under a cork although no one wants to spend their hard earned money catching these small fish. Checked out the deeper waterways north of the lakes and found very few trout there yet. Big thanks to Capt Gerald Ellender for fishing with Doug Wood and his crew from Monroe, La. They put in a long day yesterday catching a full box of fish including trout, white trout, reds, bull reds, blackdrum and just about everything in Dularge that has tails & fins. The crew went back on their own today as they brought their boat with them. Redfish are still going strong in the ponds and are easy to get to as long as water levels remain high. I've already rescheduled trips for Wed & Thurs. as I'm going to wait until after the next cold front to get after the trout again. Maybe we'll find them bunched up again like last week. Good luck fishing.
