Got the same size motor and boat in a vision series....some say size up.....i sized down from a 22 ftr. w/ 200 yamaha. Best choice for me.....economical.....transferable...easy to load and unload when alone....Big lake alone won't sink it....can maneuver it in tight spots (freshwater) ...Only downside is WOT on mine is 44 but that's plenty fast and im not fishing the bassmaster classic for a living.....was a little nervous about downsizing...but in all practicality, i think your gonna be in love. Have fun and ENJOY! And powerpole....your good w/o it'll get in the way of your guy fishing off the back deck.....plus more moving parts in the water = more trouble on the water....just get you a driftsock made for 20-22ft boats and a manual anchor and you'll be good to go =)

Nice boat by the way...will be easy to spot =)

I love my nauticstar. It is a heavy boat but handles ruff water better than any other 18 ft. The draw back is I only can run about 38 mph. I might go after work tomorrow and will be out there sat. Tight lines and congrats on the new rig.

i have they exact same boat just red and 3 years older. i love mine. i fish alone alot and it is all i need. i put a jackplate on mine and it helped a little on top end not much though. its ruff in a chop but it can handle some waves. i took it 15 miles out this summer.

congrats and thats a good looking color

i was thinking about a jack plate but wasnt to sure if it would be worth it thanks for the info and thanks on the boat!! I LOVE IT!

If the boat is already dialed in correctly I would say no on the jackplate. Can you get 40-45 mph top end? When youre on plane, does your cavitation plate kick up a lot of spray or does it sit close to flush with the waterline? This really depends on your definition of "worth it" , very nice to have but nearly 1K buys lots of baits and gas.
It's not going to add much speed if any in this power range. I bet the main advantage would be shallow water holeshots.

If the boat doesn't have electric trim tabs, those would be worth it IMHO.
