I'm going to New Orleans with some friends this weekend, haven't been there since before Katrina. We are going to Burbon street and we are staying in that general area. Do you guys have recommendations on good places to eat / drink / party? Thanks ahead of time fellas.

IMO New Orelans is terribly overated for food. I would stick with Dragos, Acme Oyster, of the several Po Boy places around Bourbon. My personal favorite after being drunk is a Lucky Dog fromthe hot dog carts on Bourbon! Hand Grenades are a must but dnt drink more than 1 or 2 or you will be looking for a place to puke.

Yeah, I know that the food isn't as good as over here. I just don't want to waste time or $ on bad food and boring bars.

Galatoire's is good. Jacket required and no reservations. Go in early pm and the wait is usally not bad. I've found Deanie's (sp??) seafood in the quarter good and reasonably prices.

of the places I've eaten at in City the best are Redfish Grill, Alibi for a burger is much better than Port O Call, Grand Isle was okay, ****ie Brennans steak house was good but terribly over priced. If you looking for Value Johnies Po Boy. Nice quite and great food Broussards. The best guide to restaurants in Nola is at.. http://www.nomenu.com/joomla1/index....197&Itemid=204, this fella has a radio show every day for 3 hours and all he talks about is eating in New Orleans.

port o call or drago's for sure....those sweet @$$ hand grenades are a sorry excuse for a hangover if you ask me....if you venture away from Bourbon street head to "monkey Hill" off of magazine, its more of a lounge spot but there are always good lookin women over there

Yep, some bars even have 5 for 1. Just remember to quit buying rounds for you buddies after 6pm. It goes from $5 for 5 beers to $5 per beer, lol. The famous door is a great place too. Every time I go they have a band there and the lead singer looks like a chubby version of Axle Rose and they can jam. Also check out the gold mine about a block off of Bourbon after 11pm. If you like to go to a bar/club with fine girls and dance this is a good place.

Disagree on the bad food, you just have to know where to go.......
Down Magazine Street: Lillette's, Geautreaux's, Upperline In Quarter: Couvette, La Foret, Bayona, Galatoire's, ACME Down Esplanade: Lola, Cafe Dega, Jackimos |

Any of the John Besh Restaurants are amazing, Jager's in Metarie on Clearview, Rocky and Carlos in Chalmette(get the Mac and Cheese with red sauce on it you will thank me later), Angeli's on Decatur is open till 4 am and its really good italian food, Johnnys poboys,Stanley (on Jackson square),Meaux bar bistro,i could do this all day....As for partying if you like live music go to frenchman st in the Marigny (right across Esplanade) and Bourbon st is Bourbon st (just stay towards the canal st side and you will be fine) |

when it comes to basic dishes, but there are a lot of good places to eat. Has been a while since I've been there, but if you like steak, the Rib Room in the Royal Orleans is a classy place with large portions of prime rib. The Grill Room is another fancy place in the Windsor Court Hotel on Gravier Street which is the only 5-star hotel in the city. Believe the hotel is partly owned by the Manning family. Mother's is a good po-boy and lunch place on Poydras. Have eaten at Masperos on Decatur for lunch and it was good. Will try Johnny's on St. Louis next week when I go. Don't have any info for Bourbon Street since I always stay away from there! Guess the Drago's restaurant previously mentioned is in the Hilton by the Riverwalk?
