Default Cajun Slam on the Fly! Big Lake 9-19-11

I typed a big long report twice and lost it before i could post it!
heres the short version
had an awesome time on my first trip to fish big lake. big thanks to Paul and Jude for thier hospitality and especially for Paul and his family for making feel so welcome in their home!
the conditions in the morning were horrible. we only managed to put a few trout in the boat. as the afternoon wore on the birds started working and fish were slung in the boat. we finished the day with 20 trout, 6 reds and one flounder. I managed to catch a cajun slam on the flyrod! I caught the red and flounder on a purple and gold slider and the trout on a pink and chartreuse clouser minnow. thanks again Paul and Jude, looking forward to my next trip on Big Lake
btw i was upset, i didnt see any pilgrims and our drift was never cut off!
maybe next time!
oh and if you are gonna fish for reds with a nemire spoon, take the hook protector off, they hook up better

What weights are you clousers? Been tying mine with chain whistlers, but thinking I need more weight!

thanks Guys! yeah the flounder was a surprise. I was just blind casting when he nailed it. thought it was a small red.
bohunter, those bead chain clousers are good for real skinny water. I tied the one i used yesterday with a 3/16 oz dumbell eye.

Ryan, you are welcome anytime! It was great fishing with you and Jude. I am really glad you were able to complete the Cajun Slam on the Fly. After you had that flounder I knew it was do able.

Again, great job!

Jude, as usual, thanks for the boat ride! LOL
