Default Tuesday Morning at the Point

Decided to sneak out to the Point this morning before the Arctic blast came through. A bit foggy, got to the landing about half an hour after sunrise. High tide had the water was over the docks and gave me fits launching my boat. Slipped my boat rope noose over my guide pipe on my trailer so that I could retrieve my boat after launching. The rope got hung up over my runner board and wouldn't allow the boat to launch out much past the trailer. Pulled back up a bit to try to free the rope, but the boat was in a bind against the back of the trailer and wouldn't allow me to pull the rope around the board! Appreciate the help from three guys who had just launched their boat. They were able to come by and untie the boat rope at the boat eye so that I could pull up. Finally got on the water with absolutely no wind to speak of. Fished from the Cove area out to the Hammock picking up a few here and there trolling around. Trolled into a nice flock of birds just as the rain hit around noon or so. Pulled in one nice one before the rain drove the birds away and sent me back to the landing soaking wet. Ended up with 8 including a white trout. There was some kind of giant yellow offshore racing boat with an engine noise that you could hear 5 miles away. Guess he's not a fisherman as he blasted by within a 100 yards of everyone fishing from the Cove to the Point!

Default Nope!

Wasn't sure how quickly the weather would come up today so I didn't head out in that direction. Figured it would be pretty crowded over there as well. Normally I fish Mud Point more than the Trash Pile. Has it just become a location name or is there really a lot of junk down there still? If so, how bad is it for getting hung up if you're trying to fish the bottom slowly?

Default Hmmmm...

If the trash is still there today, seems like it would be a jighead graveyard!

Mud/sand bottom. Mostly mud. Folks don't fish the right spot these days. Land had moved, trash pile hasn't. Don't fish with the big group of boats cause they're in the wrong spot.

You'll have to troll around to find it

Mud point has stumps/logs on the bottom once u find them that's where I have been catching the trout. I have just been trolling around when I get hung a few times in one area I mark it on my GPS. You know once they start to see u catch fish they are gonna come for u so I leave and go find another set of stumps. But yes mud point has a few jig heads down there
