yeah I would be a little P.O.'ed if i could only shoot Woodrows. wouldnt waste my time. Its pretty bad arse to see them things whip throught the trees to land in a small pothole.

thats all i get to kill up here. No teal, no mallards, no geese. Its boring, but its duck hunting at the least. It puts meat in the freezer and it gets exciting sometimes.

I normally hunt on a creek about 30' across, and them little suckers hide in the bends, and they jump after you walk past them, and you have to turn around real fast to get a pop-shot at them because they're already 50+ yards down the creek in 1.1 seconds. Its awesome !!!!!

My favorive was shooting them and they fall into the talla (sp) trees in these potholes and I'd find them gorded by a tree branch/stick...one time i shot one and it fell into the talla trees waded over to pick it up and freaked out when a woodduck head was staring me in the face!!! He fell and into a fork of a small talla ripped his head clean off..the body was in the water lol...

Last year, I made an mid-afternoon hunt with my girlfriend. It wasnt technically going to be a duck hunt, more like a 4-wheeler ride, but with the shotgun. Pulled up about 40' away from my "honey hole" made a quick chirp on the call and they responded. I told Jackie to cover her ears as I made my way to the spot. I perched up and boom, must have been 50-80 ducks and I shot 2 times and jammed my 3rd shot and 3 ducks were on the water swimming the "death circle". I had no way of getting them. After some brainstorming, I hauled butt to the house to get my waders and a fishing pole. Came back, put on waders, got one. Rang its neck and threw it on the bank and it "came alive" again. Jackie proceds to beat the crap out of this duck that wouldnt die with 4 different sticks. I couldnt get the other 2 because they were on the other side of the hole and the deepest point of the hole is 40'. I wasnt swimming because it was about 40* outside. I took the fishing pole and a cheap pop-r and went to casting. About 10 minutes later, I had the other 2 ducks. 1 hen and 2 males. It was an awesome day. The only thing that would've made it better was if I had a dog !!!

Sorry for the long type, just re-living the moment !!!!

I had a woodie once!!!!!!

I don't care what anyone says, I still think a drake spoonie is a colorful bird.

Chris, I can hunt during the week if you want someone to go with you.
