Rod Repair Advice

Looknig for some advice on what to do. One of my favorite rods is starting to show some wear. The epoxy around some of the eyes is turning yellow and cracking. the eyes are not loose or anything but I'm sure this is not good. Can I fix this myself with some type of glue or should I take it to someone. It is a Kistler rod and they will fix it but it will cost me $75+ bucks with the shipping costs. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

I would use supa glue

You can use a good two-part epoxy and That should keep it on there pretty well, don't forget to rewrap it with new thread before applying the epoxy.

If you don't want to do yourself most rod repair guys (including ours) charge about seven bucks per guide.

I just had Tackle Box fix one of my rods and it looks as good as the day I bought it

75 bucks ain't to bad if they re wrap / epoxy entire rod and give u new guides.

I had 2 completely striped new eyes cork handle & clear coat for $40 a piece.

That is mainly shipping costs. 30 there and 30 back plus whatever cost they have.

The Tackle Box's repair guy does an awesome job! He just re-did my H&H rod and put recoil guides on it for me, ran $85 but those recoils are expensive and well worth the money

That was the total cost? Theats pretty darn good. I may do that

Yeh it will prolly be cheaper if you go with a normal guide on the tip, I forgot to tell him that I wanted just a normal guide on the tip.
That recoil tip is garbage IMO
But no doubt it's an awesome deal and I highly recommend it
