Scratchinn my head on this one. Purchased a brand new Poulan weedeater a few weeks ago, put in the the right fuel mixture, cranked her up, ran like a champ. Go to use it a couple of weeks later and it will fire, but as soon as you squeeze the throttle it dies. Any suggestions?? Ethanol fuel maybe?? I even tried adjusting the idles screw and everything else I could think of.

Let it idle and warm up a minute, then "feather" the throttle till it revs up good

This should work. My echo does the same. Just have to let it warm up for a minute, then work with the throttle. |

If these suggestions don't get it running for you....buy you a can of Carburetor cleaner.
Spray some in the carburetor and let it soak 5 to 10 minutes. Crank it up. If it is still not running good.....run the engine at ~ 1/3 speed, and then spray a quick blast of carburetor cleaner in the carburetor. Repeat a couple of times. Also..... go buy some non-ethonal gas to use in all small engines. |

The oil to gas mixture is way to strong. Or another possiblity is water in the gas. Ethonal fuel will get water in it if it is left open very long or has been in the container for more than a few weeks. If all these suggestions don't get the engine running good.....you might try pulling the spark plug and clean it. |

Check the exhaust. If something is plugging it, it would do that. Maybe a dirt dauber got in there already.

Water in the fuel. Dump it and mix new. Try to get non ethanol if you can. Also get some marine stabil with ethanol treatment and use it even if you use no ethanol gas. Helps out alot.

You don't have fuel problem. I have several Echo's, they all do the same, just let it run a minute or so, feather the throttle up to full speed. Gas will not gum that fast, and ethanol will not affect it that fast either. Just make sure you mix correctly on oil & gas. And DON'T use premium gas, will run too hot.
