I am taking some guests (yanks) fishing Wed. They have never used a baitcast reel.. I have been buying throw away reels like zebco 33s for my lil girl and wife. Any suggestions on a quality closed faced rod and reel for saltwater that will last.. Also I have been using stiff Bass rods.. What rod or action would yall recommend ?
Thanks ahead!! |

Pox made a good/economical recommendation on the rod. (unlike the waterpoo comment ;-p) I picked up a compre for a backup rod to leave at the bend. Have only used it 3 trips but for the money I've found to really like its balance and it's pretty light/sensitive.

Yeah, thanks Pox , I will look at them this evening. I am not sure my geusts , or my 10 year old would appreciate the quality of the Waterloo or Core 50. If I ever wear out my Citica's (if that is possible) I have spares that i bought when they were under a 100 bucks. |

I like my 6'6" lightning. Not the new split grip. Best $35 I ever spent

I've got a Sienna reel that has lasted 10 years now. $30!!! My son caught 26the fish on it Saturday. Can't beat the reel for the price. Go get some low dollar shimano rods to pit them in and your good ti go.

Why do your guests have to be "yanks"? I'm offended.

Well, its not their fault , they can't help where they were born. But Muskegon Michigan is a bit north of I-10. But then again so is DeeRidder

I wound up getting 2 Sedona 4000s the only Saharas Academy had were smaller and I wanted more line capacity, They seem to be nice reels. Also just got $ 49 med action all star rods, I did not see any Shimano Compre.
THANKS for the advice!! |
