dog keeps peeing

I have a lab and he's two years old. We got him around seven-eight months. Ever since we've had hime he's always had an excitement problem (I call it chihuahua syndrome) he pees all the time. Everytime I go to let him out i grab his leash and go to hook it to him and he starts peeing...... I cant tell if he's excited or scared or what...the previous owners were abusive as I found out he's very scary of newspapers. But we've had him over a year and its really getting old. He's house broken he wines and lets us know he wants to go out but im getting really tired of it happening. If it was like once a week or so I can understand it as accidents happen but this is a couple times a week. We've also got his bladder checked and he was fine.anyone else had this problem. I really dont wanna get rid of him because of this and I refuse to have a dog thats strictly an outside dog.im also fixen to get another dog im gonna have to train and I dont want him smelling his pee and then peeing over it,if dogs even do that lol

Not sure of your living situation, but is the leash necessary when he goes outside? It could have something to do with his past and a leash that freaks him out. Just guessin.

Gotta wait till he's calm before even acknowledging he's there. Don't look down, reach for him, nothing. Once he's calmed, then touch him when he's not looking at you and it won't happen. Soon, it will stop all togeather

We had a female standard poodle that did the same thing. We had her from the time she was 8 weeks old. We did what Dink recommends and it eventually worked. Get's old cleaning up dog piss so I feel your pain. We ended up giving her to a friends daughter. I have to say that dog was one of the biggest PITA's I've ever owned. I'll NEVER have another dog that needs to be groomed again. Whe was a beautiful animal but a big baby that needed constant attention. Give me Boxers and Labs any day. Good Luck.

My wifes parents used to breed boxers and thats what she wanted but we found this dog first. deep down I want to get rid of him cause I hate having to clean up after him and then watch my son crawl around on the same floor. But at the same time hes really good with kids. He just lays there while they grab and pinch and poke and kick him.....

Our yard isnt fenced in all around just one side of our house. So we either grab him by the collar and walk him out or put his leash on and walk him out like that. We've tried waiting till hes calm and its worked a few times. But if I put my shoes on close by the door or start walking towards the door he runs over there and then starts peeing reguardless of if im gonna take him out, he also doesnt lift his leg so im pretty sure its not intentional . he doesnt really wag his tail like he's excited or tuck it between his legs like hes scared so its hard to figure out if hes just excited ot scared

Dink is correct. Also dont hover over him as you put the leash on. Do it off to your side without stopping and making him feel as though you are dominating him in any way. There are two reasons dogs do this. Also try putting on the leash as you are approaching the door while he is focussed on the door and not on you dominating him.

Maybe you need an invisible dog fence, and a dog door.

Then he can come and go as needed.

Thats not a bad idea we've actually been lookin at shock collars but I like the fence idea better. Anybody know a price range

Price range depends on how much your willing to pay to not have to clean up dog piss everyday. lol

They sell the wirless transmitter type collars that have a 180 ft radius. No fence needed. Think they go for around 300. A buddy of mine has one and he can take that collar off and that dog still will not come past the invisible line. You have to physically pick her up to come past it.
