JMO.....Get over the fact that you are a polite and courtious fisherman and 80% are not....within the last two weeks its nothing but complaint about potlickers, drift cutters, and just a holes on the lake....nothing is gonna change...either quit fishing turners and find another place in the lake or just throw topwaters at em.....not everyone knows what a drift is and what should be done when drifting or bird fishing....read Ws how to fish birds thread....bang boats with em...plenty of little fish under the birds...want bigger fish explore and learn something besides birds....sorry for the rant and rave but doing the samething over and over will GET YOU THE SAME RESULTS.....get out of your comfort zones and have fun...my .02

"cutting off a drift".......If a boat is drifting with the wind or current in a certain direction, the area out in the direction the boat is drifting should be respected by other boaters. Moving into the area a boat is drifting is considered by most fishermen/women to be bad etiquette.
Now the question is...... how close is too close to move in front of a boat's drift? This kind of depends on how fast the boat is drifting. IMO...... this distance would be 300 to 500 yards using the trolling motor 200+ yards to get into the area. |

You can drift behind someone, same drift pattern, and pick up the same amount of fish as them. |
