Computer virus, need help.

Can any of you guys help me with a computer virus? AVG works to some exyent but doesn't get it all and Malware won't run at all. Help

Download these two programs. Superantispyware and Malwarebytes. Both are free. Once you download them make sure you update them and then run a complete scan. Only run one at a time, and after it finishes removing the threats reboot your computer and then run the other program to see if it finds anything else.

Also when running these I reccomend running them in Safe Mode. To get into Safe Mode usually you just have to tap the "F8" key as soon as your computer starts booting up. It'll then bring you to another screen once you're there select "Safe Mode With Networking". Your computer will boot into Windows with the bare minimum of services and processes running. Run your scans from there and then reboot when they're finished.

I already had malwarebytes installed and it will not run and superantispy has a window that pops up and says it has encountered a problem. I'm running AVG again, but in safe mode to see if that helps. I didn't know about the safe mode gig.

what virus do you have or your comp is just running slow? AVG is ok but SAS is better.

Were you successfully able to install SAS and Malwarebytes? If so definately try running them in safemode, if they still won't run try this. Go into the Program files of your computer. It's usually located at C:\ProgramFiles, In there you should see folders for both Malwarebytes and Superantispyware. What you're going to want to do is go into each of those folders and rename both of the Main .exe files for both programs. For example when you go into the Malwarebytes folder you should see a file named "mbam.exe" rename this file to something else, it doesn't matter what you rename it to as long as it has the .exe extension (example rename mbam.exe to whatever.exe). For SAS you will see a file named "SUPERANTISPYWARE.EXE. Again rename this file to something else just make sure you have the .exe extension.

Now close out of program files and try to re-open both programs. A-lot of times these viruses have registry entries that look for keywords in installed programs, they look for keywords that are commonly associated with Virus and Malware removal programs. By renaming the .exe file sometimes you can trick them and get the program running.

I do also reccomend before going to far into trying to remove the viruses make sure all your critical information (Like Pictures and Documents) are backed up. If Windows becomes unstable and you can't boot up at least you'll have your stuff backed up.

It's a false window security alert virus. It put a bunch of porn icons on my desktop. Some kind of trojan. Not really sure.

was it Windows Police Pro? That one is going around right now.

Not sure. It says system protection. But it's fake because alot of words are mispelled. Not sure what to do.

if you can download and run SAS, it should find the virus and quarenteen it. That should clear it up. If its not letting you scan, you might have to cntrl, alt, delete and kill the program.
