The spring time is here and we fished a few days before easter and both me and Capt Mike got on the tuna every day. Some days the fish were bigger then others but everyday was plenty of action. The live bait is starting to show up with pogies out of the passes and some bait on the rigs now.
I even got on some yellowfin chunking 7 miles offshore at some shallow water rigs. I think any rig in over 250 feet of water is likely to hold some tuna now. The fish were mostly eating chum or live bait on 60 pound leader but one day they were hot on the frenzy poppers and I got 10 yellowfin on poppers. The biggest fish we put in the box were around 60-80 pounds Mike Pittman fished the day before easter and put 7 yf in the box on live bait. We both took off for easter but we are going to get back after it tomm. I didnt get more then about 12 miles offshore the whole week looking for tuna although I did go further offshore to try for ajs but they just werent cooperating too well. Also grouper season opens up on april 1st and we should have some scamps hitting the dock pretty soon. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
