Hi all. I'm originally from Australia and now living in Lafayette. I was wondering if anyone has any spots I could try for reds and specks off the bank within an hour/ hour and a half drive of Lafayette? So far the only area I know is the Rockefeller Refuge area which is very hit and miss. Any info is greatly appreciated.

You can fish the beach area at cypremorr point but that's about it. Grand Isle prolly has the best no boat fishing in the state. Just a little further than a hour.

Welcome to south la. I think you can fish in lake Charles from a pier at night and catch some reds and specks. One of the other guys will know more. It isn't that far to drive from Lafayette.

I could probably spend the day at Calcesieu Point Landing. It's the nicest public launch and fishing within 90 minutes of Lafayette as far as I'm concerned. Lots of folks fish there.
