Kids in the blind with you? How old?

I plan to bring Huey with me in the morning. My Wife is giving me grief about it. He is 5.

How old were you? Or how old were your kids when you brought them for the first time?

5 is the age that I'll most likely bring my son.

I was probably right around there. Now would be the time of the year. Later on it will be too cold. Hell I have pictures of me riding on a horse with my dad working cattle when I was 4.

I brought mine when he was 2 under very controlled conditions. 5 is fine, just bring plenty of snacks and drinks to keep him busy.

To me it has a lot to do with the conditions of the hunt. If it's a easy boat/4wheeler ride or not is what makes the difference.

Wish my phone would load pics! I started my son around 5 or 6. But for the past few years we have been packing all my buddies little ones to the blind.... 5,6,7,8 bunch a little duck hunters!

Mine has been fishing and hunting since he was 2. He is if 4 now and can shoot the BB gun with the best of them!! Look out decoys this year!!

Biggest advice I can give you ***** DO NOT BUY THE KID RUBBER BOOTS**** when it gets cold.

Find some good boots that will keep his feet warm and dry when cold weather gets here because my kids taught me quick - if their feet are cold, I am not going to have a good hunt!!!!

5 is the perfect age for a BB gun in the blind,however if you take him against her will like I took Lil-c fishing saltwater against my wifes will there may be cosequences as there were in my case,Good Luck.

Made Lil-c tell her how much he enjoytd and took her out to her fav restaurant,that type of stuff then it was all good in a few days.

Its a very controlled hunt. 100yd walk from the truck. No water except what were hunting over. And only Him Me and my Brother. Plus a weekday, so shouldnt be another hunter for a few miles.

Make sure if you let him it's just him shooting and give him specific diretions to shoot.

Also, me and 2 of buddies and his daughter who was about 8 or 9ish at the time were making an afternoon Teal hunt. When we came out of the blind Green Jeans was in the canal waiting for us to get out. He checked us for our limits and we had 4 limits.. He asked my buddy who was in another blind with his daughter who shot the 4th limit and he said his daughter did. He told her to pick up the gun and load it, point it at the bank and shoot. She picked it up, loaded it and was about to shoot and he told her to stop she didn't need to shoot. He told us if she would not have been able to laod the gun then whe would have got a ticket for being over the limit. What I'm saying is, if you shoot 3 limits.... make sure he can load and shoot a gun.

Just put heating protection on them. I have permanent damage from a .45 colt that happened as an adult, the youngsters are more prone. My ear doc told me you wouldn't believe how many kids in the 5-10 yr range go in with permanent damage/loss and a ringing in there ear that will last a lifetime.

I'm stuck with it... I've tried everything now for the ringing and have had no relief.

They may not look cool, but at least you can live everyday without them, unlike a hearing aid before you're 30!
