big bream beds
I grew up fishing miller's lake near ville platte and occasionally toledo bend, during the late spring and early summer we would get on bream beds and sometimes catch 100 or more keepers at one bed. We would set out the anchor and drown a couple hundred crickets and load the boat down. I moved to New Iberia a few years ago now and can't seem to find a place around here that has those real big productive bream beds that I grew up fishing, I've fished Henderson and a few different places in the basin and caught fish, but never a big bed. Is there a lake or place somewhere around an hour away that I could really get on a bed and hammer the bream?

Stephensville/Grassy Lake, Morgan City/Flat Lake. Lots of places just like that. Remember though these are overflow lakes. They are much different from impound lakes like Toledo. They have flowing water.

If i were to go to any of those lakes around morgan city would i run into any problems beings ive never been there? Like i can only run in certain areas due to shallow water or stumps and what not. I dont like running around a body of water ive never been to and potentially ruin my boat. |

Henderson holds. For bream it happens when the river down and stays warm to hot for a bit. They starting to get on beds. Buddy and I fished for the last hr of yest. And caught 10 slabs off one bed. And a few throwbacks in other spots
