I got a 98' 150 mercury (salt edition), i dropped the lower unit to change water pump, all went well. Went to stab it back in and the bearing or sleeve that the drive shaft has to go through in order to spline with the crank has come loose and is covering the hole. Tried to center it but does not stay in place. Any suggestions?

the spline on the driveshaft goes straight in the crankshaft on mercs most of the time you have to bump the engine over in order for the splines to meet up one person push lower unit up while the other cranks and also make shure you pull the lanyard out while doing this
