Went to the Roc yesterday before the front hit. They opened up the east end locks at Joseph's Harbor and screwed up the fishing / shrimping there because of the massive amount of water lillies that's clogging up the area. Headed west to the cameron jetty boat launch to do some night fishing. Caught a massive red fish off of cut mullet on the bottom but my reel locked up about 40 feet from the dock. Was able to work him by hand to the dock but he nosed up into the dock and I couldn't pull him out. Some fishermen in a boat saw my predicament and try to help by attempting to net him; but as you know you can't net a big fish like that tail first. It was actually a good thing because he was really too freaking big and would not have fit in my ice chest anyway. The front hit soon after with 25 + winds out of the north with the tide coming in. Starting catching shrimp right of the boat launch but that didn't last long. Started catching small 9" white trout off of the live shrimp under a cork and eventually gave up around 11 pm. Boat fisherman were coming in with flounder being caught up and down the shorelines of the ship channel. This week should be real good for flounder as they start their migration.
