World Record Announcement
After 77 years, 7 months and 6 days, it may finally be here — a new world record largemouth bass, the most sought after sportfish in the world. Bassmaster.com will have live video from International Game Fish Association headquarters in Dania Beach, Fla., as the decision is announced this Friday, Jan. 8, at 1:30 p.m. ET. Stay tuned for bass fishing history.

Since Kurita's bass does not exceed the weight of Perry's fish by more than 2 ounces, it is not eligible to qualify as a new world record according to IGFA regulations. Instead, if it is approved, the catch will be considered a tie with Perry's fish.
  ***??!! That's retarted that it has to be more than 2 oz heavier to qualify for the world record.
