Stopping a 40 s&w....

Looking for opinions on stopping a 40 s&w at 7 yards....Not exiting target in an indoor range....Such as plywood , how thick???

1/4" - 3/8" AR plate. I wouldn't use wood. We built a live fire house for the U.S Marshall service with those plates. They trained with handguns and rifles with no issues.

Any 3/8 plate steel will do fine. 3/8 mild steel will take thousands of pistol rounds and need nothing but new paint. Don't waste your $ on hardened steel unless you plan on shooting it with a rifle.

at 7 yards you can shoot and stop it with 1/4" paneling or less ! Just load the brass with primer only with PLASTIC bullets , no powder ,ive done it . Of course i was shooting a single action but this works for practice , draw, speed, body mechanics etc, not for semi auto, recoil, etc.

I don't reload . And I was just figuring on maybe 5-10 shots once a week or so . Maybe daily with my 22 mag . or LR. revolver . I used to shoot my bow daily till I got a messed up back and shoulder . It was cheap and quiet . I can't shoot in the yard but figure the insulated garage should be good . If nothing else maybe subsonic 22 .

Quick draw shooter? I have a friend that does that. Looks really cool. Already have too many hobbies though lol

I've shot a few 22's suppressed, they hardly make a sound. Some plate and a suppressor woul do the trick for sure in your garage.

That 22 aguila stuff is so quiet it is less than a bb gun. No powder. Just a primer mixture ans a 17 grn bullet. I may be wrong on the bullet weight. You could shoot it in the living room and your wife in the kitchen wouldn't know. Still strong enough to penatrate a spray paint can at 20 feet or so.
