Had to make a short trip Saturday due to ab birthday party...you know, the wife gives you that look when you tell her that you are going fishing... My HDS12 gen 2 pooted and I upgraded to the HDS 12 Carbon so I was going...
Alphaman wanted to be on the first trip out with the carbon, so we headed out with his daughter. We hit Mud point to find gafftops. jumped to the Delambre canal, nothing. was going to the port channel and saw a MASSIVE amount of bait but nothing chasing. We get to the port channel and see fish chasing bait and you guessed it, Gafftops... We caught a dozen or so, I swear I saw a Tarpon shoot 3 ft out of the water. Headed to the East side of weeks where we picked up a few reds and sharks. I got to net Karmyn's first red! I swear she can cast better than alot of grownups I take fishing. Below are a few shots of the sonar around the Delcambre canal. the Carbon is way ahead of the Gen 2 units. Cant wait to get back on the water again. |

Just got back from the bay. Fished redfish point area. 1 redfish. Birds were working the area but it was all gaftops. Is it just me or are the gaftops getting worse every year?

The only way to make it better is eat them...haha. Everyone talks crap but gaftops are quite tasty.
I like down imaging, I run DI and sonar side by side most of the time. Nothing like a day with the kiddos. |
