Ok so I been feeling kind of under the weather lately, nothing serious or anything, just an aggrivating cold/sinus congestion/fever/coughing/sore throat thing that won't go away. I remember my grandpa used to fix me some "cold medicine" with tea, lemon and whiskey and I was wondering if anybody on here would just so happen to know how to make it. I can't remember how he would make it and I don't wanna call him right now cuz I'm sure he's sleeping.

Another version of the mixture is honey, lemon and whiskey of choice. Quantities are up to you. Just keep in mind the whiskey is the key ingredient.

try taking vitamin c every couple of hours while your awake and gargle with some peroxide often. Kills cold/flu bacteria in da mouf. You can add a lil mouf wash with the peroxide for good taste.

Melt some pepperment into the concoction also, it will help open the congestion. The heat will boil off the alcohol and make the pepperment oil in the candy evaporate while you drink it.

My grandma used to take a Mason jar and fill 1/2 way with some kind of whiskey and drop a bunch of peppermint candy canes in it, close the lid and put on the window seal for a few days in the sun. Shake a couple times a day. When the candy canes are melted, take a couple spoon fulls each night before bed. No coughing and you sleep good.

It's a little different concoction but when I was younger my grandmother would give me a solution of honey, lemon and goose grease. A few hours after drinking about 2 tablespoon of
this I can remember coughing up chunks of nasty stuff. It tasted good also. I don't know where you might be able to find goose grease in a grocery any more, but I'm sure you could substitute the goose grease with some duck fat or similar grease. Get well soon. |
