What kind of tires do you guys use? i had goodyear marathons(radials) and i ended up having 3 blowouts last year. I'm going to go all new now and have been given conflicting information as to what kind of tires to get. Some say dont go with radials, others say its the only way. i have a single axle trailer with a 19ft boat. Thanks for the help.

I've got nylon trailer tires now, hate em......the tread on inside and outside wore off eventhiugh pressure was up, I don't like em......are your radials load rated? Look into that. Like tires for a 2500 truck instead of for a 1500........

the marathons are rated for 1760 lbs which is what most c-ply are that i've found. just not sure if i should go with the bias ply or the radials. Its usually between 150-180 miles round trip for me depending on where i go.

Kumho makes a 14'' radial trailer tire that has a "D" rating.

Found a local dealer that could get me 2 of those by friday. I did alot of research and found alot of good reviews about them, so I'm giving them a try. Thanks alot big. Anyone else have any experiences with this trailer tire? |

I have a 19ft Mako with a single axle trailer and in the past two years I had a part of the tread come off of one tire and a bubble form on the inside of the other one. I had them both replaced with radials which the tire guy told me would be better. We'll see if he's right or not. I think however that the boat is just too heavy for a single axle trailer and that the boat should have been sold with a double axle trailer. Well live and learn...

I would not have anything less than a 6 ply tire on any trailer. there are so many reasons but the best is this : you may bend the rim, but the tire will still be there and useable.

Got the new Kumho tires in today, mounted and balanced and i put them on the trailer this afternoon. These 14 inch radials are 8 ply tires rated for 2270 lbs at 65 psi. They are about 1 inch taller to the goodyear marathons and felt about 10 lbs heavier than the goodyears. they dont sag at all, we'll see how they do on the road. at $120 a piece, I hope they last a long long time.
