Got to my nursery this morning to discover some stuff stolen during the night. There were muddy footprints everywhere, and small tire tracks too. Took me a while to put it all together, but figured out they were after one of my palm trees. The idiots parked their truck in a nearby cane field and walked through a muddy field to get to my place. They then stole my favorite 2 wheeled wheele barrow and tried stealing one of my palm trees. The first 2 they tried musta been too heavy. they ended up taking one that had a smaller root ball on it. This one was still probably a couple hundred pounds. It looked like they tried stealing some pottery and a fountain too,but decided it was too heavy to haul all the way back to the truck, and left it behind. They then proceeded back through the muddy field for several hundred yards back towards the cane field, and musta figured they couldnt make it there. THey then changed their course across the muddy field back to the sevice road where they crossed a ditch and loaded up their truck. THey might have gotten a few other things too,but its hard to notice everything that is missing until you need it. I called the police, but knew they wouldnt have much to go on. Just figured maybe someone might have called and reported seeing some guys with a big palm tree in a bright orange wheelbarrow in the middle of the night wandering through a muddy field. I figure its was some salt water ningas cause regular ningas or crackers wouldnt have gone through soooo much troube just to steal a tree. MAN I CANT STAND A THIEF

lol...sorry for your loss but I'm just picturing a few guys busting into a place to try to steal a palm tree.
Not only is it not inconspicuous, what the heck are they going to do with a palm tree? |

I keeps my guns loaded too at all times, but just doesnt do much good if your not there. And yeah, eman it was a pygmy date palm about 200.00 The tree doesnt bother me as much as my wheelbarrow, cause I use that all the time. Well, yes the tree bothers me too, just pisses me off. If I could just catch them one time, one time you hear me?

Depending on where you live, those cubans are prolly toast. They are not near as hardy as queen palms, and the queen palms took a burn-some aint gonna make it. Just got some nice sylvesters in yesterday, let me know what you need,Ill fix you up. |

I hate to kill any palm tree. In the past I have potted the seedlings and have given them away. I am now out of sources to give them to. Since you are in the palm business, do you want them? I was planning to pull all of them this weekend, to shape up the rock bed area under the Pindo. They do grow fast for a palm. Once I get them all pulled and potted, they are yours for free, if you want them. I'll give you a count when I am finished. I have to put three trees in one pot, as my pot resource is limited. So they will need to be divided later. PS: I am in Pensacola. Pindo palm tree, cold hardy fast growing tropical container jelly palm Start now for that tropical palm tree look on your deck /home can be kept in a pot for years, This beautiful feather palm has long pinnate leaves that arch and recurve towards the ground from atop a thick stout trunk. The trunk can grow to 20 feet, but normally reaches 12 to 15 feet with a diameter of 1 to 1.5 feet. Leaves range from light green to bluish gray and grow 5 to 10 feet long. The leaf stems range from about 2 to 4 feet in length and have spines along both edges. The palm produces bright orange fruit (often called pindo dates in the deep south). These palms vary in form. Specimens raised in dry and/or infertile soils tend to be smaller in stature with smaller leaves. Light also affects the plant's form while those grown in full sun are more compact. Culture Light: Full sun to moderate shade (the fronds grow longer in shady situations, giving the palm a more graceful aspect than those grown in full sun). Moisture: Prefers sandy, well drained soil but is adaptable and very drought tolerant. Regular watering and feeding will produce a faster growing, more attractive palm. Pindo Palm.jpg |
