There was one but it only lasted about a year. I'm not sure why. Personally I would love one and would shop there. I go to cajun fast mart in Carlyss they have all the essentials.

I used to like going to the Tackle Box in Sulphur. They seemed like they were doing a fair amount of business. I don't know why they shut down. They had a guy named Hobie that worked there that was great for advice and reports. He used to post on here all the time, but haven't seen him post anything in forever.

There may be enough demand to scrape by but I don't think you are going to become the next Tackle Warehouse or anything. Its always nice to see a small business make it.

I think it would make it if done right. I think the tackle box's downfall was moving where they did. They paid a ton in rent for that place. Too ambitious too quick and poor location. Around Sulphur you will be in direct competition with Cajun fastmart. They get a lot of business. They get plenty of my money.

Yes, with it being right above Big Lake and down the road from burn out bridge area you'd probably do well.

as mentioned above, margins will be tight but if you keep it small and run efficiently with limited staff, I think any bait shop could do well just about anywhere. its so much nicer to shop small stores then fight the crowds.

most of the places I see go under are because of too high rents and too high payroll for staff because owners don't want to put the time in to run them. I would go out of my way to shop at a small store before going to large retail stores |
