Default Hunting Etiquette

Everybody always wants to talk about fishing etiquette all the time. I think its time someone brought up hunting etiquette.

I'll start...
With so many people hunting these days there is a pretty good chance someone is hunting close to you. I hunt rice field and all year long the next blind has been screwing up my hunts.
If I have birds working by blind and they are locked up on top of me, can you NOT start calling them!!!! We have been hunting next these guys forever. They know where we are and we know where they are. Wait until the birds are clearlly not coming and are out of our field. They call birds before we even start calling. When the birds are working on us and they start calling, they get all confused and fly off and nobody gets birds.
If anybody has anything to add go ahead....

That sucks. How close it the blind to you. The rice field lease I am in has 4 blinds but really only two are hunted. I am lucky that blind is not that close to me.
Also, what I would do it talk with these guys and try to work this issue out. For example I will not call it they are working your blind and you do the same for me. In the end, no one is killing ducks if you cannot work something out. Good Luck.

If you plan on hunting, try and be in your blind well before shooting hours especially if your running an ATV or boat.

Private land and still gotta worry about other people? That sucks. I thought this was gonna be about duck hunting on public land.

I would definitely not pay for a lease to compete with others

Common courtesy is not that common anymore, seems everyone is too worried someone is going to get more than them. I have had an access situation simmering for the last two seasons that appears to be resolved.
Some folks just got to be Richard's, it's in their nature and no matter how hard they try it will come out. Many times it's about the $$$ and if they percieve you have a lack of $$ they will try to get over on you since $$$ equals "Smarts" or "Muscle". I believe "Rodney King" was right, "Can't we all just get along?"

My company owns some land in Claiborne Parish that is way out in the sticks. Only one way to get to it, so we have a right to access the property - right? We are on the property maybe twice a year. Well, the area is beautiful and has a bunch of turkeys on it, which is my passion, but anyway we are not allowed to hunt it. I run into the guy who maintains the road and owns the adjacent property and he is just an azzhole for some reason. We had to be on OUR property for a week straight which happened to be during deer season, so he was pissed about us being up there on OUR property and we were up there daylight til dark for 5 whole days. Which last I checked deer season is at least 3 months up there, and we won't be back up there til next year so he has it to himself basically. Well, he calls me up one day to gripe about some ruts in the road and I tell him it was raining the last day and it is what it is and I am sorry. Well, he was real calm and collective in person, but turns into a badazz on the phone and starts cussing me. I am in the office with my co-workers and they are listening to me get really loud with this guy just defending myself. The more I tried to be nice the more he got loud, so I laid into him screaming. Well, turns out he is very very passionate about turkey hunting also and I tell him that LDWF called me and wanted to go up there trap turkeys on our property in the next few weeks. I said I had told them no, but now I am reconsidering. You could have heard a pin drop. I had him by the balls, and no more problems outta him!
