Guys Ormet here in Burnside has made the committment to re-open thier facility.

They will be asking all associates that were laid off five years ago to come back, but............
250 jobs all in all and they are looking for experience first.
they will have a job fair at Lamar Dixon ..........

Ormet is an Alumina company ..............
They do not smelter here I think, but they have a river facility and refine boxite (sp) here.

I saw that the other day. They currently have crews out there cleaning up, mowing, etc...

I'm glad to see them coming back online! It will be a good boost for the local economy, I hope!

Great news. A lot plants in that area and the Donaldsonville area have closed or shut down a lot of unit.

· If you know anyone looking for a job Ormet is having a job fair at Lamar Dixon May 23rd and 24th from Noon - 7:00 pm this is for people with Maintenance and Powerhouse experience.

My father in-law was one of the plant supervisors and president of their credit union when they were open. He has had to move out of LA for work, I will have to let him know about this.
