Default Today in Henderson
Well the fish kill in henderson is for real but it seems to be contained to the shallow water by the landings well definetly McGees. We we landed the boat and the Bass were everywhere trying to get some O2. So went noth and dd not even get a nibble. So went back to the landing and bought a couple of nets for the kids.. The kids had a blast scoopnig up the bass that were stull alive. We also talked to some other people and they had no bites ethier. All in all the kids had blast scoopng up the ones that were on there last breath. Thanks again for all the help

and the ldwf blames it all on a bad thunderstorm.... morons...

I only saw 2 big ones. They had alot of 2&3 pounders .

The water coming out of the woods got stagnant from decaying plants and its now going all over the lake since its falling. The water has been black in that lake since mid June. Ldwf says July 6th it turned black. If they'd pump water down the teche and open the locks, the problem wouldnt be nearly this bad. Talk to anyone that's knows the waterways and they'll tell you the same thing.

Ok....thanks. and your right. The water was black when I went, but I could see 5ft down so I didn't really think about it

They've been spraying the past couple of weeks to kill the hydrilla. That probably has something to do with it too. Lots of decaying vegetation means no oxygen. Definitely needs a good flushing out!!!

When Was the last drain?? Didn't they do it every 5 or so years to clean out the vegetation?

Has nothing to do with a thunderstorm like jpeff said. Blows me away how they let this happen. Not only is it bad for fishing,it also hurts local businiess.

I don't understand the 14" size limit the WLF keep pushing for bass. Seems like every year thousands of fish die and go to waste. Just set a poss. limit and let people keep some fish instead of letting them rot in the water. Just MHO.

I agree with you as well. If they would allow to take the smaller fish the ones left would have less competition for food. When I was a kid before the 14" rule you could go to henderson and catch 5 pounders every trip.

FYI...... I don't think dip nets are a legal method to catch a sports fish.

I hate to see them go to waste....but you could get in trouble.

its not legal, I fished bayou pigeon and grand lake yesterday, didn't catch many fish, but the water went up since last weekend. I only saw one dead fish and it was a goo and I'm pretty sure it didn't die from lack of Oxygen. some canals had water so clear, I threw a spinnerbait and could see it touch the bottom of 12ft of water. grand lake had real pretty green water, most of our fish were caught by trees
