They dont have to show you but if you fight it in court it will most likely be dismissed, ask for calibration records in the court room. Bet you they dont have many.
Heard that worked but never been through it myself |

if the officer is post qualified to use a radar, most can tell how fast you are going after sitting and listening to the cars go by and looking at the radar, the post radar test is you have to quess how fast the cars are going buy and be within 4 mph of the correct speed 6/10 times, that is there creditably in court, now some small police departments don't send there officers to Post academy or qualify them for anything for a year. If you find out this officer isn't post qualified, he has no case and they will dismiss it.

Same here. Last time I got a speeding ticket, he wouldn't show me the radar either. He said he wasn't required to and that I would lose if I took it to court. They are counting on everyone just paying it and not fighting it. Lots of times if you go to court to fight it, the local judges are in bed with the cops anyway.

I always heard that they had to produce calibration papers if asked..... Thats what I heard dont know if its true but you may call sheriffs department or DA and talk to them, I have done this and had them throw ticket in trash or at least reduce to non moving

well i went and looked to see what was the closest speed limit sign after you get off the interstate and its basically right into the turn and your not really paying attention for it cause your watching for cars coming over the over pass. and what i dont get its one speed limit one way over the bridge and another speed limit going the other way over the bridge. Thats some crazy stuff.

They deff have cal papers for those things. Not required to show the radar to driver but do have to present papers if summoned by the court. Most of the time they are up to date though. At least this is what I was told by a buddy of mine who was an ex state police.

They all keep them up to date fairly regularly. If not, that would be an easy out for tickets and possible lawsuits.

Don't pay it, what is a little bench warrant? lol I have gone to court and talked them into a non moving violation, if you go to court and plead no contest and pay the $$$ they want. They are only after the money anyway in a small town.

So the issue here is HOW much over the speed limit you were going right? You are not disagreeing that you were going over 35?
Pay the ticket, he will be in court and his word over yours |

Talk to anyone in the DA's office. They just want your money.
They will keep it off of your record, but they do want the court costs. |

I do it all the time. Clean record, just lost some cash now and then.
Even if you are not from the area, they will take your cash and tear up the ticket. They just want the money. They can care less about the ticket. Most court cost start at a magic number of $100. |

Good suggestion Ray........Received a speeding ticket last year in N. La while heading back home. I admit I was speeding. Waited until Monday to call the local court house and requested to talk to the DA. The lady I spoke to ask what this was about and that she could possibly help. I proceeded to tell her, I had received a speeding ticket in their area, I do admit guilt and I was willing to pay the ticket but am requesting to move this to a non moving violation, as to not show up on my insurance. The lady immediately said, "sure I can take care of this for you." I asked what the total cost was to be and she replied, "just the ticket cost no court charges." Dropped the payment in the mail the next day. |
