How dependable is an EPERB??? Seems a satellite phone is unnecessary if you have a good EPERP.

Response times can be slow with EPIRB because they often try and confirm a need or wait 12 hours for the second satellite pass before sending out rescue. 12 hours is a long time. A sat phone can quickly confirm the need to rescue and get things in motion much more quickly.

The new one's are great. But be sure you have it on file with the coast guard, and have someone on land they can call and check your fishing plan with. ( when your leaving, when your expected back, and what area your planing on fishing) buddy boat/boats is the safest way. But we are all probably more likely to get hurt on the way to the boat or ramp then on the water. But you can't ever be to safe!!!!!!!!!!!
