I don't buy specialty meats. If'n you want good meat, you gotta prepare it yourself.
I have eaten meats from the old man Hebert, who started Heberts in Maurice, but what he fixed for us, he didn't sell at his place. His son-in-law usta hunt with us and he brought Mr. Hebert to cook for us once a year. His cookin was different than what you can get raw and cook yourself.

You like what you were fed as a kid, we had no fast food where I am from.
Mama's and grandmaw's cookin was where it's at.
Different area's like different kinda cookin.

If'n you want cookin like where I grew up at, go to Mama Faye's, just East of Chloe Rd., on Hwy 14 and eat one of them plate lunches. Especially on Wednesdays and Fridays. Them Bertrand girls know how to cook. They cook like what I ate growing up in the Cameron/Creole area.

Sausage Link or The Boiling Point in Sulphur. Number 1 for sure would be The Best Stop in Scott. Their cracklings are great also.

I tried Billy's last week. Was not impressed. I like best stop or Don's if I buy it. I prefer to make my own. Plan to make 50 pounds next weekend.
