Default Boat is sluggish trying to get on step

Took the boat out this weekend mostly to run it but fished a bit too. from a dead stop when trying to take off the boat was real sluggish like it was bogged down, we only had 3 skinny people in the boat. we were not in shallow water so it wasn't mud. it was straining to get on step. once on step still didnt feel right. it did this a couple times. after stopping to fish a spot, the problem dissapeared and never happened for the rest of the day.

I was thinking spun prop but the motor was not revving like it would if it was spun prop.

hope my lower unit is not going out

What engine? How many hours? Did you check compression? Check for a spark? Old gas or new? If it's old gas did you treat it? Did you check your prop?

Could be one if the cylinders wasn't firing. Has the boat been sitting long? On of the carbs night have issues.

2003 yamaha vmax 150. didn't sound like the motor, the motor was running fine. i didn't think it was a fuel issue the motor wasn't missing or sputtering or anything.
it was the first run since the fall, i do start it about once a month. had full tank of fresh fuel

I'd say it wasn't running on all cylinders. One of the jets in one of the carbs is probably plugged. It may idle fine and run at low rpms but one you hammer the throttle it will bog down.

I've seen the fuel pick up tube having trash at the bottom doing something similar but it did it all day not just once. If its a two stroke it could just be cuz u haven't ran it in a minute.

Maybe you had some grass or something keeping the prop from grabbing?

Sounds like dirty carb or jet. Old fuel since last fall and ethanol gas has a very short lifespan.

I am just glad you specified the skinny people. Now I know you are not my brother-in-law talking about me.
