Get yourself a few cans of bear spray. Now those things are fragile so wrap them in something soft like bacon and rubber-bands. Then be careful not to leave them laying around your feeders because if a bear bit into one.............................

Hear about em killing people in other areas of the country but never really anything about truly aggressive bears in Louisiana. They are like a big coon, if you feed em they are going to stick around. University of Tennessee is who is conducting most the research on the bears in La (kinda ironic). In most cases when one was needed to be darted (to replace the collar, or whatever) it was a challenge to get close enough to it especially in that thick palmetto. You have to play the wind and sneak up on them, and this is with a transmitter where you know exactly where the animal is. If they smell you or you snap a twig, they may stick around to see you but they would haul butt. Even the mothers with cubs, they would take flight and no fight.
