I mainly use mine for slingin corks. I have tight lined on it and the sensitivity was great. I don't think it's on the level of a Waterloo or G.Loomis, but it only cost me $60.

I have a Stradic (3000 size) which is slightly out of your price range and a shimano Sahara (3000 size) which is on the low end of your spectrum. The Stradic is a little better but the Sahara is legit too. If you take good care of your stuff, either would be fine.
