![]() I tried to use grand isle, pelican island, manila, and fourchon and adding or subtracting time to them but none seam to be anywhere close or reliable to when the tides move in PAC. sometimes they are off by an hour to 90 minutes and other days they can be over 2 hours off depending on the wind directions. there seams to be no clear listing for lake raccourci , little lake, or hackberry bay on the tide charts. I have been told to use grand isle and add or subtract 3 hours or something like that but that's using tides for the opposite side of a land mass and again, even just a little wind throws it off to the point of being useless. I seam to fish in a blank spot when it comes to tide info. can anyone tell me a reliable way to "know" when i'll have high and low tides (within reason) I really haven't spent enough time on the water to do my own research and form my own fomulas to figure this out but with all the instant online info we have access to today should I really need to? I figure there should be an accurate (within reason) tide chart I can use |

in pac i use pelican island and all that matters is there is a tide....if you got a strong south wind its gunna be above,,,,north its gunna be below.....can't predict the wind a year or whatever in advance....i launch my boat and adjust to conditions....tide charts are nothing but basic information with a lot of variables thrown in when you get there....the only gauranteed way of catching a fish is in a swimming pool full of hungry ones...

when planning a trip the tides are just as important as the winds and weather that day.
how and where you fish has a lot to do with how important accurate tide info is and knowing when you might run aground in certain areas helps. its more productive to catching fish to have moving water then during stagnant times between tides when the bite slows down so good tide info helps you a lot, like tell you what spots to target for incoming vs outgoing tides and finding out when its better to sleep late and fish the afternoon or evenings or leave early to get there before sunrise and go home before lunch I have been using pelican island numbers mostly but wanted to know if anyone had figured out a better read on the tides for PAC |
