Joes Cove
Also, I was there last Saturday and it looked like a parade out there, with that being said I had/have no clue of where to fish in the cove, should I stay near the few camps and fish that out or should I look for some cuts along the banks? I will only be out for a few hours pretty late tomorrow evening (6pm-8ish) so I'm looking for something close to avoid running the boat for a long ride in the dark of night |

Even I have had success around the circled area straight out from the entrance. That should tell you how easy it can be if the conditions are right!

can you run how you want through the area? I was always nervous to try in there because i dont know how deep it is

it can get shallow on the north end near Dugas landing during low low tides, but most of the time you are fine....getting up on plane after you stop can be fun sometimes.

When you launch, pretty much run along the east bank until after you pass dumas landing. Fairly safe after that. I would think with the higher tides now you're good to go. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk |

Some more experienced opinions would be helpful to me as well. Especially for West Cove. I've ventured around there just a little but very carefully. |

Only place I've had any problems in West cove is the north end. The pocket up by the north entrance. But I run a small boat as well.

Why not just launch at Dugas Landing and you're right there? Is the launch not there any more?

The launch on the right of the circle.
Its a good one, just run on east side close to bank. Can usually catch bait at the cut going out into ship channel, by rocks. |

Went last night and launched at Dugas, wasn't impressed and totally agree that if you are not careful you can damage your boat trailer. Kind of reminds me of the old Freds on the river boat launch back in Port Vincent.
Enough about the launch, water was high and it was incredibly windy. we out around 5:15pm yesterday and saw birds working, we drifted into and picked up a nice 3lb spec. Thought we hit gold then spent the next 2 hours trying to find anything that would bite. water was deeper than I expected so I had to adjust the game plan ended up with 1 nice black drum , 1 flounder and the 1 spec. Wish I could of got more but glad we got something. They were hitting the pink gulp swimming mullet and fresh dead shrimp on the bottom |

I almost lost an axle
Although a while back, I almost lost an axle. Backed the boat into the water and the trailer tilted to the right at about a 30 degree angle. Almost couldn't pull her out.

yes that is why is said be careful at that landing. Had the same thing happen to me, boat tilted over bad. I got the boat off the trailer and it came out ok. The south launch seams to be a little better and not as bad. Glad you got to fish and did not have to repair anything.
