Great redfish action yesterday as we rescheduled our trout trips.....just too much wind. Its almost never worth it when you take people out in 15-20 mph winds to fish the shallow open water reefs. Our area is really shallow and very silty and its just not productive for trout on the big wind days. Redfish is a different story as we can find protected areas in the duckponds to make successful drifts. Utilizing the powerpoles on points and cuts is a big plus on the windy days.Using our Pro-Drive boats is a great way to get way back in the marsh where the fish live. I fished with David,Pat,and Ray Benoit and we crushed the reds catching 27 bronzebacks. We started in some large ponds but the stiff winds forced us deep in the marsh looking for smaller ponds to fish. I ran out of the 'cajun pepper' Bayou Chubs so we fished with LSU and Chicken On A Chain. The reds ate them up as they were in a frenzy. Most of the reds were caught on the points with 8 reds caught on a single point! They were stacked up and feeding on shrimp and spitting up small guppie looking fish. We kept our 20 fish and the guys loved every minute of it! No place like the DU! Sure was glad to see the UPS truck drive up today with another load of 'cajun pepper chubs', thanks JD! J&C Enterprises has another delivery Tuesday so call John Eschete at 985-226-4143 to get yours! Good luck fishing.
