For those considering a trip to P-cola Beach
Here's a post off the PFF...As you can see our beaches remain beautiful despite the media reports as of today.Yes we have some tar balls and I can't get out of the Pcola pass to nab some snappers but we still have alot to offer..So, don't cancel your trip to our beaches!
Jimmy I was gonna get up and go snapper fishing this morning but found out the area i wanted to fish was in the "closed area"... so me and a few friends just decided to go to the beach. i decided to bring my yak just in case i saw some schooling spanish or something. about 130 we saw a big blob cruising down the beach and people getting out of the way of it. i grabbed the yak and hit the water with the quickness. with the peddle drive i easily made it out in front of the object and slipped up on it. to my surprise it was a manatee!! i had never seen one of these guys out there before. i cruised with it, taking video and pictures for about 5-10 mins. i could tell he/she wanted to get back out into deeper water so i eventually stopped and let it cruise out. very cool experience! Oh, NO oil to be found anywhere. NO tar balls on the beach. NO sheen in the water. NOTHING!! Very Very hot though! Like i said, i only peddled for about 15 mins total and i was completely drenched in sweat!
