Default Big Lake 11-20-10

Fished early with the armada but I don't know if I was late at 6:40am but the birds were flying but not really working. After an hour of not finding much but losing one at the boat I went south looking for birds only to find more water chop and no birds. Went all the way to West Cove, water was not good and nothing happening. I went back to Turner's Bay and drifted in and caught a few and decided to anchor about 10am. The wind began to lay down and the bite if any also died except for someone who pulled in about 200 yards from me with a little boy and proceeded to catch fish non-stop off a popping cork for the next 2 to 3 hours. As the wind picked up the bite did also and I began to catch some trout with one on new penny gulp and the rest on pumpkinseed and chartreuse sand eel juniors and "who dat" Hackberry Hustler. The guy throwing popping corks left and I postioned more to the middle of the bay and anchored about 100 yards from where I had been and made long casts with the wind and finished a 15 trout limit with one small flounder to boot. I left a little after 3 and made it into Spicer's. Many of the fishing fleet left mid-afternoon but there were others to take their place. It was my first time to really fish Turner hard but it must be one of the best places when it gets cold. I threw jigheads without cork and never lost tackle to the oysters. I am pleased with the Hackberry Hustler as it is tough, durable, but with plenty of action. ics:
