Default Memorial Weekend Axis Hunt

Just got back from Sonora, TX on an axis hunt with my uncle and some of his buddies. The ranch owner has alot of goats and said that the axis were eating all the good grass, so he wanted us to thin them out. He said he wanted us to shoot 10-15. We ended up getting 12 axis and 1 sika. Could have killed over 20. We had a 90 y/o man with us who was one of the 1st men on the beaches of Germany for D-Day. Pretty cool way to spend memorial day weekend listening to him tell war stories. We spent all day Sunday trying to get him an axis out the pickup truck. He missed 6-7 times but hey he was trying. We could have gotten another 10 or so Sunday. Some guys missed some nice ones. I got a nice one. Uncle said it was biggest one they ever killed on ranch. I got it the first afternoon of the hunt, so I popped another 2 does and could have killed some other big bulls but just shot them with my video camera. Never been to that part of Texas before, beautiful place.
