Haha yes I read about what happened, and that's very unfortunate, but I'm glad everyone made it back to dry land safely. There is only one guarantee with boats and motors-no matter how much or how little you pay for them, they will all eventually break at some point. I have never really been a mercury fan to begin with, and when I started pricing the Yellowfin 24 i was originally looking at the Yammy 350. My main concern with the 350 yammy was that it had to have a special external steering system set around the outboard to turn the motor! I haven't had any experience with anything like that before and I honestly didn't care for the way it looked. I water tested one with a 300 verado and i was thoroughly impressed and felt like the motor satisfied all of my needs. Also, I have been told that the YF 24 drafts a little better and rides a little better with the 300 verado compared to the yammy. I don't know if that is accurate, it is only what I was told. I have gotten to take quite a few rides now in a YF 24 with the 300 verado on the back in all types of conditions and I have been thoroughly impressed with it so far. I would be really curious to know though if anyone has any experience with the YF 24 with trim tabs on it, and how they affect ride and performance compared to no trim tabs?
