Well today was not a good day for my digital camera to die on me. What started as a last minute trip with a buddy I haven't seen in a while, turned into a trip we both will remember for a long time! Original plan this morning was to go to Prien, get out of the wind, and fill the box up. I've been fishing up there a lot lately but have been wanting to go to Big Lake to search for some big girls. My buddy was game so we braved the wind and freezing cold and on our first stop found some mighty fine specimens of Spotted Seatrout. We didn't feel like wading today so I just chunked out the sea anchor and drifted a shallow oyster bank. We fished from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and we stopped counting after we boated our limit of specks that were all in the 2.5-6 pound range, lots of 3-4 pounders. We didn't boat any wall hangers but this was definitely one of my personal best trips considering the amount of quality size fish we caught. We decided to play catch and release, so no box shot (it sure would have been a nice one!). I just snapped a few quick pics with my phone while we were on the water. I'm not willing to divulge GPS coordinates just yet because I'm going back tomorrow! But the secret bait is in the pictures...
P.S. Sorry for the huge pictures. I resized them but they are still showing up really big ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
