Tuesday morning trout slam on the DU! Today was the perfect day to catch trout. Calm seas and green water is all it usually takes to slay the yellowmouths. We had both this morning as the fish cooperated and we iced up 250 trout between 3 boats. Probably caught in excess of 400 total fish this morning as the trout fishing has exploded throughout lower Dularge. We were catching them fast and furious at our 'hotspots' and started to cull for larger fish since it was evident it would not take long to limit. In fact my crew including Larry Lawley and his 2 sons John & Wyatt from Dallas,Tx. made me quit with only 45 trout on ice to go catch redfish. Well you know the customer is always right and off we went to tackle the reds. We arrived at the redfish hole and immediately hooked up with a triple & it was 3 reds in the boat in the first 5 minutes. They caught redfish after redfish until the youngsters were tired and worn out. Most were released as Larry said it was too much fish too bring home as one can only eat so much fish!! After a short boat ride they caught their second wind and the trout slamming begun again. From 10:30 until noon we crushed the trout on LSU chubs with double and triple hook-ups until the big 120 Qt was full. Easy limits on reds and trout for the boys from Texas today and boy what memories they will have from the DU! Good luck fishing!
