Capt. Chris Donato has traveled the world in pursuit of Blue Marlin, and he doesn’t hesitate when describing why he has settled in the tiny Pacific nation of Samoa. “Fishing in Samoa is exciting because of the unspoiled territories and a sense of adventure and unknown that is a captain’s dream…Samoa fishing today is what Hawaii would have been like years ago.”

The Pacific waters off Samoa offer calm seas and very accessible fishing just miles off the beach. The action is excellent year-round, and with almost no competition from other boats, Oceanic customers routinely catch and release multiple marlin per day.

The average blue marlin ranges from 150 – 500lbs, but Samoan waters can hold monsters – as evidenced by the 1,024 lb beast landed by Capt. Donato and crew last year. Capt. Donato believes that many more “granders” lurk offshore and it is only the lack of fishing pressure that prevents more being landed.

A journey to Samoa with Oceanic Sport Fishing Adventures may be the perfect opportunity for the traveling angler seeking true adventure and the chance to pursue “grander” blue marlin in the virgin waters of this Pacific paradise.
