The leaves would be gone this time of year, but the vine can get really large, it is almost 'hairy' in a sense and will have little stalks coming off it where the leaves were. It attaches to the tree and is hard to pull off the tree unlike some other vines like muscadine. The vine will eat you up. I would bet you climbed a tree or leaned against one. Its very common in Tensas.

eta: if there were leaves they would likely be a pretty red right now but they should be gone
