Potlicker:
One who crowds out someone else's fishing spot... as pertaining to fisherman: the first examples of the term being used to describe other fisherman was in the early 1930's in the diary's of pissed off fisherman. def. - A potlicker in fishing is a man who is too lazy to go find fish on his own, so he looks for someone who is already on fish and then he moves into that man's spot. He potlicks, he's a lazy bastard who depends on what others find or leave him Pilgrim : An idiot who looks like they just got off the boat and haven't a clue as to where they are. Farmed: You lost a fish everyone else in the boat thinks they could have landed Gear guy: the unclean fisherman using a method that employs spinners/weights/flashers/divers/swivels/kitchen sink/bait/ect. The next big thing in fishing and he has all of the next big things in his tackle box. "yes that guy" HOOKSET: Pulling back sharply on rod to implant hook into fish or fishing partner. Skunked: That's when you spend all day fishing and you don't so much as get a nibble on your line. "Drive By" : Fish that hit the lure / bait but didn't stick. Typically someone who had an unsuccessful day on the water and justifies their fishing prowess by telling the guys back at work, "we had a couple of drive by's but no hook ups". Chasing rainbows: The act of following someone's hot tip about where the fishing is unbelievably great only to find out you shoulda' been there yesterday. (this was created by Hurtem Hatten) Dink: Undersized fish. GI JOE: The guy who comes down the bank with all the gear he owns because he just bought it all an hour ago, still in the plastic GI JOE bag and yellow Eagle claw rod n reel combo with price tag on the eyelet. Net Foul: The act of losing a fish at the net, usually by trying to "swoop" the fish by bringing the net up from the tail instead of "head in". Sometimes caused by hooking gear in the net during periods of excited flailing, resulting in the fish throwing the hook. "Zipperlip": is when someone isnt specific about where they caught fish or how they caught them. "Aluminum hatch" : Lots of boats chasing birds in Turners "Clamming" : Jet boat stuck on old jetties or shallow flat. LINE NIPPERS: Teeth. "Hawg Line": A Place where you line up to watch others catch fish. Catching Salad: bringing in a bunch of plantlife on your hooks Sky rat: a seagull T2 (T square): T-Top look out Free to add some !!!
