Default Creosote removal from boat railing

Does anyone know what will remove creosote from the rub rail on my boat? We went to the Mermentau River redfishing yesterday and my boat got up against the pilings and got some creosote on the rubrail and a little on the top (the non-skid surface). I have tried bug and tar remover and WD-40, with no luck...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...and by the way, we caught fifteen keeper redfish, and four "big nasty's"...only wanted cracked crab on the bottom...wouldn't touch market shrimp or other dead bait.

Thanks again,

LL
