:*****:A Thibodaux man accused of stealing crawfish from a grocery store had difficulty fleeing the scene when he got winded and couldn't blow hard enough into his ignition interlock device to start his vehicle, police said.
Eric Williams, 48, 2203 St. Bernard St., Apt. C, faces a theft of goods charge in connection with a theft at the store in the 200 block of North Canal Boulevard in Thibodaux about 3:22 p.m. Wednesday.
"Williams fled the store, but was so winded from running that he struggled to blow into his ignition interlock device to start his vehicle. Employees stood by taking pictures, inviting him to give up and come back inside," Police Chief Scott Silverii said in a news release.

After many huffs and puffs, Williams was able to start the vehicle and flee the scene, police said.
Police said they found Williams at his home a short time late and he claimed he had been at work until 4:30 p.m. Police placed Williams under arrest after telling him it was not yet 4:30.
Williams was transported to the Lafourche jail for booking.
